1. Who we are and what this policy covers
DJB My Water Bill Info & Guide is published by Pragat Inc ("we", "us", "our"), an independent software studio. For the purposes of the GDPR we are the data controller for this app, and under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 we are the data fiduciary.
This policy covers the Android application distributed through
Google Play under the package identifier
inc.pragat.djb_payment_guide. The app is provided as a
freemium service and on an "as is" basis.
This app is an unofficial guide. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Delhi Jal Board, the Government of NCT of Delhi, or any other public authority. Information is provided for convenience and may be out of date. For corrections to your bill, meter readings or account details, contact the Delhi Jal Board directly through its official channels — we cannot change that data.
By installing and using the app you accept this policy. If you do not agree with it, please uninstall the app.
2. Information we collect
Collected automatically. When you download and use the app, the following is collected:
- your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address;
- which screens of the app you visit, the date and time of your visit, and how long you spend on them;
- the total time you spend in the app;
- the operating system and device model you are using;
- your device's advertising identifier, used to serve ads;
- crash diagnostics, including device state at the moment of a crash.
Provided by you. If you contact us or use a feature that requires it, we collect your email address. This is optional; the guide works without it.
The app does not collect precise location information about your device, and does not read your contacts, messages or photos. It does not ask for your water account credentials.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- operate, maintain and improve the app;
- understand in aggregate which guides and features are used, so we know what to work on;
- diagnose and fix crashes and other faults;
- display advertising, which is what funds the free tier of the app;
- respond to you and send required notices about the app where necessary.
If you have given us your email address, we may occasionally contact you about the app. We will only send you promotional messages where you have consented to receive them or the law otherwise permits it, and every such message includes a way to unsubscribe.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. Permissions
The app requests network access, which it needs to load content and to serve advertising. It does not request precise location, contacts, camera, microphone, SMS or phone permissions.
Where a future version requires an additional permission, it will be listed here and on the Play Store listing before it ships.
5. Third-party services and processors
The app uses the following third-party services, each of which handles data under its own privacy policy:
| Service | Role | Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google Play Services | Core platform services the app relies on to run on Android. | google.com |
| Google AdMob | Serves the advertising that funds the free tier, using your advertising identifier and IP address. | support.google.com |
| Google Analytics for Firebase | Aggregate usage analytics. | firebase.google.com |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash and stability reporting. | firebase.google.com |
These providers act as our processors for analytics and crash reporting, and may store and process data in data centres outside your country. Where personal data is transferred internationally, that transfer relies on the safeguards Google offers under its terms, including the European Commission's standard contractual clauses where applicable.
6. Advertising and your choices
The free tier of the app is funded by advertising served through Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier and IP address to select ads, to limit how often you see the same ad, and to measure performance. Depending on your settings and region, those ads may be personalised to your inferred interests.
You can change this at any time:
- Android 12 and later — Settings → Google → All services → Ads → Delete advertising ID.
- Android 11 and earlier — Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation.
- Manage preferences online at adssettings.google.com.
Opting out does not remove ads; it means the ads you see are no longer personalised.
7. Bill information and payments
The app helps you locate and understand water bill information published by the Delhi Jal Board. Any figures it surfaces originate from the Board's own systems, not from us. We do not alter that information and we cannot correct it — for disputes or corrections, use the Board's official support channels.
The app contains no payment gateway and never asks for card, UPI or netbanking details. If you want to pay a bill, do so through the Delhi Jal Board's own official payment channels. We do not receive, process or store payment information of any kind.
8. When we may disclose information
Beyond the processors listed in section 5, we may disclose information:
- as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, court order or similar legal process;
- where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a lawful government request;
- to trusted service providers who work on our behalf, have no independent right to use the information, and are bound to handle it consistently with this policy.
Only aggregated or anonymised usage data is transmitted for the purpose of improving the app.
9. Data retention and deletion
- Data you provided — retained for as long as you use the app and for a reasonable period afterwards. Email us to have it deleted and we will action the request within 30 days.
- Analytics data — retained by Google Firebase under Google's retention settings, and reported to us only in aggregate.
- Stop all collection — uninstalling the app ends any further collection, using the standard uninstall process on your device or through Google Play.
10. Security
We care about the confidentiality of your information and maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards over the data we process. Data you provide is held in Google-operated infrastructure, protected by that platform's access controls and encryption in transit and at rest.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authority where the law requires it.
11. Children's privacy
The app is a household utility tool intended for adults responsible for water bills. It is not directed at anyone under 13, we do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it from our systems promptly. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us at the address in section 14 so we can take the necessary action.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data under laws including the EU and UK GDPR, the California CCPA/CPRA, and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023:
- Access — ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete. Bill data itself must be corrected by the Delhi Jal Board.
- Erasure — ask us to delete the data we hold about you.
- Portability — ask for your data in a machine-readable form.
- Objection and restriction — object to or ask us to restrict particular processing, including direct marketing, which you can refuse at any time.
- Opt out of personalised advertising — see section 6.
- No sale of personal information — we do not sell your personal data.
To exercise any of these, email us at the address in section 14. We do not charge for this and we will not discriminate against you for asking. Because most technical data is collected by Google rather than by us, some requests are best directed to Google through its own privacy tools. You also retain the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, the revised policy will be posted on this page and the "Last updated" date above will change, and the Play Store listing's Data Safety section will be updated to match. Please review this page periodically, as continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
